Information for Filmmakers

Daily films are uploaded from our colleagues and downloaded from our customers from all over the world!

Buying a film is easy

To buy a film on onlinefilm.org, you don't need more than a computer with a broadband connection, some open-source software and a Paypal account. Even if the selection is still small, it's growing by the day..

Offering your film on onlinefilm.org is easy too!

If you are a filmmaker and want to use the onlinefilm.org platform to offer your films, and you hate reading manuals as much as we do, we made two tutorial films for you, that explain in English how to enter a film into our database. There are two films because the process takes place in two steps, first you enter the descriptive data (Metadata), then you upload the film.

The first one explains how to enter the Metadata of the film into our database (we call it cb-film.de).

> watch tutorial how to enter the Metadata

The second tutorial film explains how to prepare a film for the upload and then upload it into our Database for film files (we call cb-tube.de).

> watch tutorial how to upload

Once you have watched the tutorials and created your account to get yourself a username and password, you can immediately start entering your film

> cb-film.de

If you rather read we have written two manuals which will guide you briefly through the necessary steps , but we suggest you watch the tutorials first anyway.

> Welcome as new user

> Introduction to cb-film

Once you have uploaded your film, you should spread the word and embed the teaser where ever possible, here you can read about the possibilities you have:

> Simple ways to embed movies on your own website or blog

Films and Codecs

We recommend you to use xvid. It's an open-source-project and free licensed.
It is based on the divx-codec and can be played with most of the DVD-players. You can download the codec here: www.xvid.org
No problem if you have a film in avi, wmv, mov, mpg, mpe, mpeg, 3gp, flv, mp4, or divx – please make sure that you use a common codec.

For converting video files we recommend you to use the free version of Any Video Converter (for PC).

The HandBrake software is available for MAC and PC users.
But: the new version does not support avi conversion!

You can find the old version 0.9.3 here:
- MAC (PPC)
- MAC (Intel)
- PC
The official website is here
