If he had won the race in Monza in autumn 1961 , he would have been the Michael Schumacher of the 60s - It would have been a second Wonder of Bern, where the german soccer team had won the wold championship for the first time after WW II. We are talking about Count Wolfgang Berghe von Trips also known on the racecourses of the world at that time as "count crash" or "Taffy". On the 10th of September 1961 the Ferrari Pilot from Germany is awaiting the biggest triumph of his career as a Formula I Pilot, the victory in Monza and with it the Formula I World champion in 1961. Instead of winning the race, he dies in a terrible accident , taking with him 14 bystanders. With the dead of the popular German race driver also his 800 year old dynasty ceases to exist, he was the last male descendant.
